Marion Alice Hemsley, 94, Washington, D.C.
Marion Alice Hemsley, 94, of Washington, D.C., formerly of Charles County, died Aug. 8, 2012, in the District.
Born Jan. 27, 1918, in La Plata, she was the daughter of the late Harry Hemsley and the late Etta Forrest Hemsley.
Ms. Hemsley was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Plata and was educated in Charles County public schools. She enjoyed reading, playing the lottery and cooking. She was known for three-layered homemade yellow cakes with chocolate icing and making a cast-iron pot of beef stew.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Harry Hemsley; and sisters, Margaret Johnson, Hazel Green, Louise Muschette, Madeline Scott and Dorothy and Sarah Hemsley.
She is survived by her brother, Howard “Buster” Hemsley; sisters, Doreen Dent and Audrey Ellis; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Aug. 16 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
