Joseph Clifton Smallwood, 60, Indian Head
Joseph Clifton Smallwood, 60, of Indian Head died Aug. 7, 2012, at home.
Born May 26, 1952, in Baltimore he was the son of the late Joseph Smallwood and the late Esther King.
“Cliff” or “Pancake,” as he was known, graduated from Lackey High School. He worked in the construction field as a punch-out supervisor. He was a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Nanjemoy.
Mr. Smallwood enjoyed working on cars, watching television, fishing, shopping for toys for his nieces and nephews and going to church. He was outgoing and loved to make people laugh. He would do whatever he could to help anyone. He loved children and often would babysit his nephew, Julian, or take him to McDonald’s, and spend time with his great-niece, Shawntay. He volunteered daily to pick up lunch for the Brawner Estate Head Start children.
He is survived by his sister, Gaile V. Linkins; brothers, Leonard Linkins and Bryant W. Linkins; niece and nephews, Stardeck Linkins, Lamont Linkins, Clifton Linkins and Tyrone Linkins; great-niece, Shawntay Monroe; great-nephew, Julian; and many other relatives.
Visitation and a service were Aug. 14 at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Burial followed at the church cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Thornton Funeral Home, Indian Head.
