Hoping for federal financial insanity to change is not working. Relying on politicians to do the right thing is not working.

Annalyn Censky asked the question, “What else can the Fed do?” in her June 18 article for CNN Money. The answer is a frank “nothing.”

Stimulus packages have proven themselves monumental black holes, devouring as much money as we care to toss into them. Class envy, while a prudent ploy for re-election, is terrible fiscal policy. Our politicians have let the situation deteriorate to the point where it is now up to the bill payers of this country to take matters into hand. We can do that if we so decide.

Tell your congressional representative and senators to support and pass the Fair Tax Proposal. You might get nice platitudes and verbiage supporting the status quo. Don’t fall for it. Make yourself smart about the facts at www.FairTax.org.

Read how the Fair Tax Proposal is an action plan significantly different than business as usual. Be able to explain to your public servant how the plan removes the need for the IRS and requires its closure, ensures Social Security and Medicare funding, exempts all taxpayers from federal taxation up to the poverty level through a monthly rebate, ensures that all Americans pay their fair share of taxes and enables workers to keep their entire paychecks.

The Fair Tax Proposal is revenue-neutral, lowering the individual tax burden by dramatically expanding the tax base. Underground economy workers, drug dealers, undocumented immigrants, visitors, middle class, ultra-wealthy will all have the opportunity to pay their fair share when they buy new supplies or services.

Only the Fair Tax Proposal removes the disincentive to working and earning money, replacing it with an incentive to earn and save. We know the solution to our fiscal insanity is to earn more, not spend more. Do the work. Be able to tell your representatives you know about and support the Fair Tax Proposal and so should they.
