An 18-year-old Lexington Park man, for the second time in a two-week period, was arrested Aug. 28 on a charge of third-degree sex offense after he allegedly tried to have sex with a 12-year-old girl.

While conducting an investigation Aug. 6 into a sexual offense that involved an 18-year-old man and a 13-year-old girl, Maryland State Police Prince Frederick barrack troopers learned of another possible sexual offense between the same man and a 12-year-old girl.

Troopers contacted the 12-year-old girl, who said Chad C. Langgle had tried to have sex with her while she was at a friend’s house.

The girl told troopers on about July 29 or 30, she was at a home in Lusby where Langgle also was. The girl said she and Langgle were kissing when he then took the girl’s pants off and tried to have sex with her. She said Langgle then “stopped all sexual activity,” and they continued to kiss.

Troopers arrested Langgle on a warrant Aug. 28 charging him with third-degree sex offense.

Langgle was originally arrested Aug. 14 on a warrant charging him with second-degree rape after a 13-year-old girl told troopers she and Langgle had sex.

He is being held at the Calvert County Detention Center on $25,000 bond in each case.

At 2:30 p.m. Aug. 6, Maryland State Police Prince Frederick barrack troopers were contacted by St. Mary’s County detectives who were interviewing a 13-year-old girl at Medstar St. Mary’s Hospital for a sexual offense that occurred in Calvert County, according to charging documents. The 13-year-old girl told detectives she was raped at her home Aug. 4 by Langgle, troopers said.

While at the hospital, the girl called Langgle, who allegedly told her he had used a condom when they had sex. Langgle allegedly told the girl during the phone call he would not have sex with her again.

The girl was taken to Calvert County, where she told troopers she and Langgle were at her home in Lusby on Aug. 3 when he began sending her text messages asking her to have sex with him, troopers said. The girl told troopers Langgle allegedly had sent her text messages before asking her to have sex, so it was “not odd” that he was sending her messages about it then.

The girl told troopers she “felt pressured” to have sex with him, so she met Langgle in a bedroom of her home and had sex with him.

Langgle was also charged with third-degree sex offense, fourth-degree sex offense and second-degree assault in St. Mary’s County for events that occurred between March 1 and 17, according to online records, for which he is being held on $25,000 bond.
