Mabel L. Bateman, 85, Clinton

Mabel L. Bateman, 85, of Clinton died of natural causes Sept. 3, 2012, at Southern Maryland Hospital Center, Clinton.

Born March 14, 1927, in Camp Springs, she was the daughter of the late Wordie E. Savoy Sr. and the late Mary Vea Proctor.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Dorothy Newman, Mae Thelma Butler, Agnes Estelle Neal, Hazel Everstz, Wordie E. Savoy Jr. and Marion Souder.

She is survived by her daughters, Judith Reed and Brenda Bateman-Taylor; granddaughters, Jennifer Reed and Dorian Taylor; great-grandchildren, Alaina Bradley and Karam Pitts Jr.; sisters, Winifred Perry, Helen Stephens, Norma Eloise Stewart, Eunice Evelyn Lewter and Patricia Makle; and many other relatives.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of Mass of Christian Burial at noon Sept. 14 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Clinton. Burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Arrangements are being handled by Adams Funeral Home, Aquasco.
