Two Calvert County Sheriff’s Office deputies narrowly avoided injury after a large tree fell on their patrol car.
At 2:05 p.m. today, Dfc. Norton and Deputy Cutchin stopped their vehicle on Old Bayside Road to remove debris from the road, according to information from Sheriff Mike Evans (R). As Cutchin was getting out of the vehicle, a rotted tree fell over and landed on top of their vehicle. Neither Cutchin or Norton were hurt but the roof of the patrol vehicle was heavily damaged.
“They were lucky,” Evans said. “A few inches to the left and they would have been hurt.”
