The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a Thursday morning arson fire to a deck of a Chesapeake Beach home that caused about $10,000 in damage.
At 12:53 a.m. Thursday, about 14 firefighters from the North Beach Volunteer Fire Department responded to a 10th Street single-family home for a reported fire. The fire originated on the exterior attached rear deck and took about a minute to control, according to a fire marshal’s office press release.
Fire officials said the homeowner was alerted to a fire after smoke entered the house from the rear deck. When the owner looked for the source, he found the rear deck on fire and called the police. The fire was confined mostly to the exterior of the house, officials said, and caused about $10,000 in structural damage. No injuries were reported.
Anyone with information about the arson is asked to contact the fire marshal’s office at 443-550-6835.
