A judge ordered Thursday that a 17-year-old boy from Charles County be held in St. Mary’s jail in lieu of $10,000 bond on charging papers alleging he took part in an attempt earlier this month to rob a pizza delivery man arriving at an apartment in California.

Bababo O. Obaro, 17, of White Plains was charged as an adult with attempted armed robbery in the Sept. 9 incident at the residence. Court papers state its occupant left because he did not want to be part of the robbery scheme being discussed by Obaro and another culprit. The pair, armed with a handgun, ordered four pizzas, court papers state, and Ricky Dale Cook Jr. later arrived with the food.

The other culprit pointed a gun at Cook, according to charging papers filed by state police Trooper Dustin Brill of the St. Mary’s Bureau of Criminal Investigations.

“Cook refused to give the defendant and co-defendant pizza or money, and called 911 to report the crime,” the officer wrote in a statement of probable cause. “The defendant and co-defendant left the area together following the botched robbery.”

No additional arrests have been reported from the investigation.
