A judge ordered Thursday that a 17-year-old boy from White Plains be held in St. Mary’s County jail in lieu of $10,000 bond on charges that he took part in an attempt earlier this month to rob a pizza deliveryman at an apartment in California.
Bababo O. Obaro, 17, was charged as an adult with attempted armed robbery in the Sept. 9 incident. Court papers state the apartment’s occupant left because he did not want to be part of the scheme being discussed by Obaro and another culprit. The pair, armed with a handgun, ordered four pizzas, and Ricky Dale Cook Jr. later arrived with the food, according to court papers.
The other culprit pointed a gun at Cook, according to charging papers filed by state police trooper Dustin Brill of the St. Mary’s Bureau of Criminal Investigations.
“Cook refused to give the defendant and co-defendant pizza or money, and called 911 to report the crime,” the officer wrote in a statement of probable cause. “The defendant and co-defendant left the area together following the botched robbery.”
No additional arrests from the investigation have been reported.
