The St. Charles Cos.’ newest apartment community, The Nines at Gleneagles, received the annual award for Excellence in Construction from the Associated Builders and Contractors Association Chesapeake Shores chapter.
Harkins Builders was the general contractor for the 120-apartment complex, featuring one- and two-bedroom units, in the heart of the 9,100-acre master-planned community.
The apartments are the second group of three that are planned for the Gleneagles neighborhood.
The company plans to begin construction of the third Gleneagles apartment community, which includes another 213 units, in early 2013.
Associated Builders and Contractors Excellence in Construction Program has become the premier competition within the construction industry that recognizes outstanding construction projects across the nation, according to a news release from The St. Charles Cos. that announced the award.
“The Nines at Gleneagles has proven to be one of the best-selling communities in the 40-year history of St. Charles, not only because of its amenities and excellent pricing but because of the quality of the finishes and the attention to detail in the built environment,” said The St. Charles Cos. CEO Alan Shearer in the release. “The project was also expertly managed from our side by Harry Chalstrom, our vice president for construction projections, and Buddy Andrade, our construction manager. I want to commend them for a superb job."
Featured in 2011 in The Washington Post’s “Where We Live” section, St. Charles is the largest population center in Charles County and is known for its diverse neighborhoods, retail centers, recreational opportunities and schools, the release stated.
