Four members of the Southern Maryland Hospital medical staff were recognized in the 2012 edition of Washingtonian magazine’s “Top Doctors” list.
The honorees from the Clinton hospital are Art Barletta, physical medicine and pain management; George B. Bren, cardiology; Andrew D. Howard, nephrology; and Harvey Katzen, oncology-hematology.
“From the beginning, Southern Maryland Hospital has been committed to working with the best physicians in the area across the full spectrum of specialty medicine,” hospital CEO Michael Chiaramonte said in a news release. “It is a key part of our mission, and we offer our sincere congratulations to these superb physicians.”
Each year, Washingtonian magazine sends surveys to thousands of local physicians, selected at random. The survey asks doctors to name the physicians to whom they would send members of their own family in each of a range of medical specialties.
More than 1,300 physicians returned the questionnaires for the 2012 edition. Washingtonian magazine counted the recommendations and adjusted them for geographic distribution before publishing the list.
