John Gibson Cranford Sr., 70, of Huntingtown died Sept. 7, 2012, at Calvert Memorial Hospital in Prince Frederick.

He was born Oct. 2, 1941, in Prince Frederick to Walter Ralph and Beulah L. (Trott) Cranford.

He attended Calvert County schools and on May 6, 1962, married Carolyn Weisman at St. John Vianney Church in Prince Frederick. He was a tobacco farmer who also drove a school bus for Dorsey Gray and was a heavy equipment operator working for the state of Maryland, and later for Calvert County and Southern Memorial Gardens. He retired in 2007. In his leisure time, he enjoyed camping and fiddling in the garage, fixing anything that was broken.

He was preceded in death by his parents and great-granddaughter, Skyler Moses.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Cranford; children, John G. Cranford Jr. and his wife, Liz, Victoria Feuerstein and Donald C. Cranford and his wife, Dawn, all of Huntingtown; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Thelma Beeasman and her husband, Richard, of Melbourne, Fla., Shirley Mae Gibson and Jean Cranford, both of Huntingtown; and brother, Ralph Cranford and his wife, Joan, of Huntingtown.

Family received friends Sept. 10, and a celebration of his life was held Sept. 11 at Rausch Funeral Home in Owings.

Interment was at Southern Memorial Gardens.
