Charles “Buddy” F. Bell Jr., 75, of Glen Burnie, formerly of Prince Frederick, died Sept. 30, 2012, at his residence.

He was born Feb. 4, 1937, in Baltimore to the late Charles F. Sr. and Lucy M. Bell.

He graduated from Glen Burnie High School in 1955. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956 until 1960, and then graduated from Eckels College of Mortuary Science in Philadelphia in 1964. He worked for funeral homes in the Annapolis, Glen Burnie and Prince Frederick areas during his 48-year career. From 1981 to 1990, he assisted with transfers to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore. He also owned Bell Memorial Co. in Prince Frederick and Glen Burnie from 1969 until his illness. He was a member of Glen Burnie United Methodist Church and the Calvert County Lions Club.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 20 years, Alice Estelle Hall Cox Bell; and sisters, Joyce Dawn Brown and Mary Jane Allen.

He is survived by his companion, Barbara Coulbourn of Glen Burnie; son, Charles “Chuck” F. Bell III of Spartanburg, S.C.; daughters, Heather Dawn Bell of Lusby and Michelle “Shelly” Y. Beale of St. Leonard; stepsons, Kevin M. Cox of Huntingtown and Dwayne Nelson Cox of Huntingtown; stepdaughters, Amy Sue Cox Wallace of Huntingtown, Donale Bernarding of Glen Burnie, Babette Brady of Glen Burnie, Patricia Coulbourn of Glen Burnie and Darlene Coulbourn of Glen Burnie; 27 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today, Oct. 3, at Stallings Funeral Home in Pasadena; from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at the Glen Burnie United Methodist Church, where funeral services will be at 10 a.m.; and from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Prince Frederick, where funeral services will be at 2 p.m.

Interment will be at Asbury United Methodist Cemetery.
