Jacob Greenburg, 11, of Leonardtown shakes the lulav and etrog Sunday while reciting a Sukkah blessing in celebration of the Jewish holiday of Sukkot outside Beth Israel Temple in Lexington Park. The structure, decorated and built by the Sunday school students and members of the temple, is a symbolic shelter, commemorating the time Jews spent in the wilderness after being freed from slavery in Egypt. Sukkot is an eight-day celebration following Yom Kippur, or the Day of Atonement.
