Boys soccer

Northern 3, La Plata 0

Matt Schwartz scored twice in the second half on headers to help the host Patriots (5-1, 5-1 SMAC) blank La Plata on Friday.

Joe Cirillo scored the eventual game-winning goal in the 39th minute off a cross from Adam Keats. Adam Kratz and Ryan Phelps each added an assists on Schwartz’s tallies.

Huntingtown 4, Chopticon 1

Keith Merriman, Marcus Reid, Justin Daniels and Phil Brown each scored once to power the visiting Hurricanes (5-2, 5-2) to a shutout over the Braves on Sept. 20.

Girls soccer

Calverton 9,

King’s Christian 2

Calverton 9, Model (D.C.) 0

Calverton improved to 11-1 (5-0 MISAL) on the season following home wins over King’s Christian Academy from St. Mary’s County last Wednesday and Model Secondary School for the Deaf on Saturday.

Against King’s Christian, Morgan Tabor scored four times and Angie Horan added two goals.

Rachel Howdyshell, Cheyenne Manning and Leah Glascoe each scored once. Tabor, Howdyshell, Horan, Shannon Moore and Shelby Harrison each had one assist.

Against Model, Tabor and Cypress Lee each scored twice with individual tallies coming from Howdyshell, Manning, Moore, Horan and Olivia O'Brien.

The defensive unit of Zoe Gertz, Samantha Moir, Corinthia Briscoe and Olivia Fisher did not allow a shot on goal.

Patuxent 11, Lackey 0

North Point 3, Patuxent 0

After a big win over the Chargers, Patuxent (5-1, 5-1 SMAC) was stymied against the Eagles.

Against the visiting Chargers on Sept. 20, Karissa Fenwick had three goals and two assists to pace the Panthers. Dana King added two goals and an assist and Cierra Fenwich scored twice.

Samantha McGuigan, Sareena Coleman, Savannah Read, Emily Boylan, and Kayla Brand each scored once. McGuigan and Coleman also each added three assists and Read and Brand had eight and three steals, respectively.

Against host North Point on Sept. 24, Read had a team-high six steals and Jadea Deahl and Brand added four and three, respectively. Sharde Jackson had four saves.

Volleyball

Calvert 3, Leonardtown 0

Calvert 3, South River 0

Calvert (6-0, 4-0) remained unbeaten on the season with sweeps over the visiting Raiders and Seahawks on Sept. 24 and 28, respectively.

Against Leonardtown, Rachel Hornick had four aces, two assists, served at 92.9 percent and added a team-high 11 kills to key a 25-19, 25-22, 25-10 win.

Kara Wood added eight digs, served at 100 percent and had a team-high nine aces. Lauren Carman served up four aces and added 25 assists. Karli Hawxhurst had four kills and Tiffanie Horsemen had two kills and served at 100 percent.

Against South River of Anne Arundel County, Hornick had nine kills and a team-high 18 digs and Hawxhurst added four aces, six kills and 13 digs. Carman served up 32 assists and added six kills and Collins slammed a team-high 15 kills.

Alyssa Osburn added 15 digs and Wood totaled 10 digs.

Golf

Chopticon 162, Calvert 164, McDonough 168, Patuxent 173

Jackson Shannon shot a team-best 38 to help the Cavaliers (6-5 overall) add two wins to its record in a match against Patuxent, McDonough and host Chopticon in the regular season finale Sept. 20 at Wicomico Shores Golf Course in Mechanicsville.

Jeremy Pope shot a 41 for Calvert and Jordan Watt added a 42. Zach Day had a 43, Connor Healey finished with a 44 and Nick Myers scribbled a 47 on his scorecard.

The Panthers (4-7) were led by Keyan Riseling, who shot a 37 to finish tied with Will Cusic of Chopticon for the low score of the match.

Joey Hornish (40), Jake Kolterjahn (47), Robert Hubley (49), Ryan Zinn (54) and Calvin Davies (56) rounded out Patuxent’s team.
