Earl Thomas White, 57, of Waldorf died Oct. 2, 2012, at Southern Maryland Hospital Center, Clinton.
Born Jan. 1, 1955, at Garfield Hospital, Washington, D.C., he was the third of five children of the late George and the late Florence White.
He grew up in the Georgetown section of Northwest D.C. He attended Stevens Elementary, Francis junior high and Western Senior high schools.
Growing up he could be often found on the basketball court of Francis Junior High School, which was down the street from his home, with his best friend (and shadow), Stanley Wiggins. After high school he worked at many jobs but mostly in construction. He loved to watch old cowboy western movies and listening to old Motown music.
He moved to the Waldorf in 2002. He was always willing to lend a helping hand unselfishly whenever he was called upon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Virginia White; and sister, Evelyn White.
He is survived by his sisters, JoAnn White Hunt and Regina White; brother, Randi White; brother-in-law, Pastor Willie R. Hunt; nephews, Maurice Hunt and his wife, Alaina, and their children, Simone, Stephen, and Shane, Michael Hunt and his wife, Latashia; niece, Kimberly Hunt; and many other relatives.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Oct. 6 at New Community Church of God in Christ, Waldorf. Burial will take place at Heritage Memorial Cemetery, Waldorf.
Arrangements are being handled by Briscoe-Tonic Funeral Home, Waldorf.
