SMO, formerly Southern Maryland Oil, was named a top 10 employer in Charles County by the Charles County Chamber of Commerce. At the first Economic Engine awards ceremony, the chamber recognized companies that help drive the economy of Charles County. SMO, an 86-year-old company in La Plata, was one of the top employers.
