John Kenneth “Jack” Houseknecht Jr., 56, of Endwell, N.Y., died Oct. 2, 2012.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Kenneth Houseknecht.

He is survived by his wife and best friend, Dianne Houseknecht; his daughters, Kristin Houseknecht, Claire Houseknecht (Seth), Carrie Shaffer (Jason) of Mechanicsville, Kristy Doughty (William) and Jennifer Seymour (James); his son, Justin Brock (Samantha); his mother, Hortensia “Corky” Miller; his brothers, James Houseknecht and Thomas Houseknecht; his sister, Yvonne Davis; nephew, Jason Humphries; eight grandchildren, Christian, Erin, Hannah, William, Lilly, Luke, Katelyn and Dylan; and two French bulldogs, Moe and Maddie.

Born in 1956 in Fort Knox, Ky., he grew up in Springfield, Va. He was a graduate of the University of Virginia, and went on to have a successful career in finance. Jack previously resided in Hagerstown and Lusby before moving to Endwell. He was a dedicated employee at Andrews Federal Credit Union in Suitland and the senior vice president of lending and CEO of SSA Federal Credit Union in Baltimore before working at Visions Federal Credit Union in Endicott. He was the 2002 Maryland League Professional of the Year and a candidate for the NCUA Board of Directors. He was a philanthropist at heart and was a board member of the Magic Paintbrush Project and AVRE. He was devoted to his family. He loved golf, trivia, reading and karaoke. He was a Washington Redskins fan, a Trekkie and enjoyed traveling.

Funeral services were held Oct. 6 at Allen Memorial Home in Endicott, N.Y.

Memorial contributions may be made to AVRE, Magic Paintbrush Project or the humane society of the donor’s choice.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, at 10 a.m. at Chesapeake Highlands Memorial Gardens in Port Republic. Arrangements are being handled by Briscoe-Tonic Funeral Home in Mechanicsville.
