Officers arrested a Prince George's County man Saturday after a plumber performing work on a Waldorf home interrupted him during an apparent burglary attempt, the Charles County Sheriff’s Office reported.

The plumber called 911 around 2:15 p.m. to report he had arrived intending to do some work on a home under renovation in the 13000 block of Poplar Hill Road when he noticed the side door had been kicked open.

He entered the home and confronted a man he found standing inside. As the man left the home, the plumber snapped some photos with his cell phone and called police.

Officers set up a perimeter and called in a police dog team.

Tarique Jarrod Day, 31, of Capitol Heights was found hiding in nearby woods and was arrested without incident. His car was found parked a short distance away on Forest View Drive.

Day was charged with third- and fourth-degree burglary, destruction of property and trespassing, and released.

Officer P. Arends is investigating.
