State fire investigators report that they are trying to determine the cause of a fire that began outside of a shed in Lexington Park last week and led to an $8,000 loss from damage to the structure and its contents.

More than two dozen Ridge and Bay District volunteer firefighters responding on Oct. 4 to an 8:30 p.m. alarm battled the blaze at David Griffin’s 20-by-20-foot shed on Treetop Road for 10 minutes to bring it under control, according to a notice of investigation by deputy state fire marshal Melissa Bean.

The agency has requested that anyone with information about the blaze call its Southern Maryland regional office at 443-550-6834.
