The Southern Maryland Athletics 13-U travel baseball team will hold tryouts at Patuxent High School in Lusby from 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 13 and 20.
The Athletics are currently seeking veteran baseball players who are 13 and won't turn 14 until after May 1, 2013.

The Panther Open Golf Tournament will be held at 9 a.m. Oct. 20 at Chesapeake Hills Golf Club in Lusby.
The cost is $75. There will also be a “Beat our Best” contest with high school players and a $1 million hole-in-one contest. Proceeds will benefit Patuxent High School's golf program.

Huntingtown Hall of Fame
The Huntingtown High School athletic department is accepting nominations for the school’s inaugural Hall of Fame induction.
Graduates of 2005, 2006 and 2007 are eligible for nomination and nominations for coaches and athletic support persons are also being accepted. The deadline is Nov. 1. The induction ceremony will take place April 21 at Huntingtown High School.

Futsal players wanted
The Calverton Futsal League is looking for players for its winter season, which will take place Saturdays and Sundays from December to February at The Calverton School in Huntingtown.
The cost is $70 per player until Nov. 19. After that date, there is a $20 late fee.

St. Mary’s College of Maryland will host a six-week baseball camp starting Jan. 6 with St. Mary’s head baseball coach Lew Jenkins directing the program in conjunction with U.S. Baseball Academy.
Classes are available for players in grades 1 to 12 and are limited to six players per coach. Sessions are offered in advanced hitting, pitching, catching, fielding and baserunning.
The cost is as low as $99 for six weeks with proceeds to benefit amateur baseball in St. Mary’s City.

The Calvert Blast, a U-9 girls soccer travel team that trains in Calvert County and plays in the competitive WAGS POD program, has player openings. Tide baseball tryouts
The Chesapeake Tide, an 8-U and 9-U travel baseball team, will hold tryouts through the fall and winter for players in the Southern Maryland area.
