A White Plains man has been arrested for allegedly setting fire to his home Saturday morning.
Tracy Ray DeMarr, 48, was taken into a custody following a call about a domestic assault and arson at his home on isolated farmland in the 11000 block of DeMarr Homestead Road. A neighbor reported the fire just before 3 a.m.
No one was hurt, but the two-story house was a complete loss, with the total damage estimated at $100,000.
Forty-four firefighters from volunteer departments in Waldorf, La Plata, Hughesville and Bel Alton put the fire out in two hours.
DeMarr has been charged with first-degree arson and second-degree assault, according to online court records. His bail was set at $100,000 on Monday.
The Charles County Sheriff's Office and Maryland State Fire Marshal are conducting an ongoing joint investigation into both incidents.
