A judge ordered Friday that a Lexington Park man remain jailed in lieu of $75,000 bond on charging papers alleging he smacked a woman’s face during a dispute last week about their relationship, and later cut her lip with a butcher knife while robbing her of her purse.
Henry Clay Hinson III, 25, was forced out of the Fox Chase apartment by a witness during the initial assault on Oct. 10 on Ashley Sade Clemens, who is pregnant with his child, court papers state, but he allegedly kicked in the door and threw a porcelain duck lawn ornament, striking her in the head.
The suspect’s acquaintances arrived and removed Hinson from the home, but he went back in again later that night, got the butcher knife, demanded money and was “wildly slashing” the weapon toward Clemens as she was on the floor, according to a charges application filed by St. Mary’s sheriff’s deputy W.P. Bankhead. Hinson left with the purse, charging papers allege, holding $1,100 in rent money.
