Huntingtown Hall of Fame
The Huntingtown High School athletic department is accepting nominations for the school’s inaugural Hall of Fame induction.
Graduates of 2005, 2006 and 2007 are eligible for nomination and nominations for coaches and athletic support persons are also being accepted. The deadline is Nov. 1. The induction ceremony will take place April 21 at Huntingtown High School.

‘Try Hockey For Free’
Southern Maryland Sabres Hockey Club will host a "Try Hockey For Free" event at 10 a.m. Nov. 3 at the Capital Clubhouse in Waldorf.
USA Hockey and more than over 400 local programs across the country will encourage children 4 to 9 to come to a local participating rink and try youth hockey as part of the NHL's Come Play Hockey Month.
Children 4 to 9 who are not currently participating in a hockey program is welcome to register for the event at www.tryhockeyforfree.com/. On the website, enter “Waldorf, MD” or your zip code in the lower right-hand corner of the map, click “Locate,” then click “Register Now” in the map details.
The Sabres will provide some equipment for participants to use, but all are encouraged to bring a bike helmet and winter gloves if participants have them.

Gretton Goalkeeping will conduct weekly small group and personal training for youth soccer goalkeepers and field players throughout the Southern Maryland area for the fall season through the week of Nov. 12.

Calvert County Parks & Recreation is now accepting team registration for adult basketball teams. Age divisions are 18-and-Over (no high school students) and 35-and-Over and rosters must have between 10 and 15 players. Age is determined as of Dec. 31, 2013 and deadline to register is Nov. 16.
The cost is $550 per team. Games are played Tuesday and Thursday at Northeast Community Center and Sundays may also be considered.

CCPR youth basketball
Calvert County Parks & Recreation will hold tryouts for the county/competitive basketball program from 6 to 7 p.m. for U-10, 7 to 8 p.m. for U-11 and U-12 and from 8 to 9 p.m. for U-14 at the following dates and places for the respective teams: SYB Panthers Nov. 19, 20 and 26 at Mill Creek Middle School; Prince Frederick Eagles Nov. 26 to 28 at Southern Middle School; St. John Vianney Nov. 19 and 20 at Windy Hill Middle School and Nov. 27 at Huntingtown High School; Owings Outlaws Nov. 26-28 at Windy Hill Middle School; Beach Buccaneers Nov. 19, 26 and 28 at Northeast Community Center; Huntingtown Hurricanes Nov. 26, 28 and 29 at Plum Point Middle School; Dunkirk Warriors Nov. 26-28 at Northern Middle School.
Registration is not required. Participants can just show up the first day of tryouts, though players must register for the CCPR intramural program prior to tryouts.

Futsal players wanted
The Calverton Futsal League is looking for players for its winter season, which will take place Saturdays and Sundays from December to February at The Calverton School in Huntingtown.
The cost is $70 per player until Nov. 19. After that date, there is a $20 late fee.

St. Mary’s College of Maryland will host a six-week baseball camp starting Jan. 6 with St. Mary’s head baseball coach Lew Jenkins directing the program in conjunction with U.S. Baseball Academy.
Classes are available for players in grades 1 to 12 and are limited to six players per coach. Sessions are offered in advanced hitting, pitching, catching, fielding and baserunning.
The cost is as low as $99 for six weeks with proceeds to benefit amateur baseball in St. Mary’s City.

Tide baseball tryouts
The Chesapeake Tide, an 8-U and 9-U travel baseball team, will hold tryouts through the fall and winter for players in the Southern Maryland area.
