Three people were flown by helicopter crews to a hospital after an assault including stabbing injuries shortly before midnight Friday night, police and firefighters report, in the area of Route 5 in Charlotte Hall.

None of the people involved in the incident succumbed from their wounds, a senior detective said, and no one had been arrested as of early this week through the ongoing investigation.

“The main suspect in that case was also injured,” Lt. David Yingling said.

Mechanicsville volunteer firefighters responding to the scene set up a landing zone for Maryland State Police and U.S. Park Police helicopters, which flew the three injured people to an area MedStar trauma center, according to an online report by Fire Chief John Raley.

Two of the people had been stabbed, Yingling said, and the third had been struck with a blunt object.
