Hunters found the body of a missing Waldorf man Thursday night.
According to information provided by the Charles County Sheriff’s Office, a group of hunters discovered the body of Paul Vincent Knobel, 49, of Waldorf around 9 p.m. Nov. 1 while hunting in a wooded area between Woodville Road and Poplar Hill Road in Waldorf.
Knobel was reported missing on Oct. 25 by family members and was last seen around 5 p.m. Oct. 23 at his home in the 15000 block of Woodville Road.
Family members indicated in a item published in the Maryland Independent on Wednesday that Knobel left on foot and might have been hunting.
Spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office, Diane Richardson, said it appeared Knobel had a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
His body was sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy.
