The Charles County Sheriff's Office’s judicial services section conducted a warrant sweep last month that resulted in arrests of 13 people wanted in connection with domestic law-related offenses.
Seventeen warrants were served.
Each year, during a designated week in October, which marks National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, law enforcement agencies across the nation participate in the annual National Family Violence Apprehension Detail, in which officers focus on serving outstanding domestic law-related warrants.
“These types of offenses have a serious impact on victims, but the offenders are sometimes difficult to locate,” Charles County Sheriff Rex Coffey (D) said. “During this sweep, our officers coordinated information and combined resources with other law enforcement agencies to locate these individuals, bringing a sense of justice to the victims of these crimes.”
