A judge ordered Wednesday that James D. Pinkney, 40, of Lexington Park remain in jail in lieu of $5,000 bond on charging papers alleging he repeatedly punched a girlfriend in the face last week at their apartment and also punched a responding law officer in the face.

Pinkney eventually was handcuffed to an ambulance stretcher during the Oct. 26 incident at the residence on Valley Court, court papers state, and he was taken to MedStar St. Mary's Hospital before he was jailed on charges of committing a second-degree assault on Shaneka Banks and on St. Mary's sheriff's deputy Joshua Krum.

Pinkney also was charged with resisting arrest and destroying windows belonging to Spring Valley Apartments, through the investigation by sheriff's deputy Trevor Teague. Damages were estimated at $1,000.
