Thomas Matthew Higgins, a Mechanicsville teenager, has been charged through a summons with reckless endangerment in court papers alleging he gave a pill last spring to another student that made that student ill, at the address of Chopticon High School.

Higgins, now 19, provided the other student on March 16 with one pill of “2C-E, which is a psychedelic and phenethylamine ... medication [that] can mimic the effects of LSD,” and is a non-controlled prescription drug, according to a charges application recently filed by St. Mary's sheriff's Capt. Daniel Alioto.

The student receiving the pill “began to vomit repeatedly,” court papers state, and was taken by a family member to MedStar St. Mary's Hospital.
