The following items were compiled from reports from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office. During the week of Oct. 22 through 28, deputies responded to 1,602 calls for service throughout the community.
Tool bag stolen
A black canvas tool bag containing tools valued at $100 was taken from an unlocked vehicle parked outside a home on 8th Street overnight between Oct. 23 and 24. Dfc. S. Esposito is investigating.
Someone stole a 1997 tan Jeep Grand Cherokee from in front of a home on Stephen Reid Road while the owner was inside at a party between Oct. 27 and Oct. 28. Deputy J. Cutchin is investigating.
Items stolen from home
A home in the 10000 block of Old Mill Drive was burglarized Oct. 22 during the day and someone took about $1,200 in items. Dfc. J. Hardesty is investigating.
Dog shot with pellet gun
Someone shot a small dog with a pellet gun while the dog was inside the owner’s fenced-in yard on Vera Court between 4 and 8 p.m. Oct. 24. The dog’s owner said the Pekingese was taken to a veterinarian for medical attention where they told him the dog had been shot in the shoulder. The dog is recovering. Driver arrested for paraphernalia possession
Cpl. J. McCarroll stopped a vehicle at 1:31 p.m. Oct. 24 for speeding on Route 4 near Doris Drive. Richard L. Foster Jr., 27, of Owings was arrested and charged with possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia and was cited for driving on a suspended license.
Copper piping stolen
Someone stole about $1,000 of copper pipe from the basement of a Deane Avenue home between Oct. 22 and 23. Dfc. M. Robshaw is investigating.
Man charged for driving under the influence
At 3:45 a.m. Oct. 28, Deputy B. Schaefer was assisting with a vehicle crash that occurred on Sollers Wharf Road when another vehicle came toward the deputies and failed to stop when ordered to. The vehicle came close to where the deputies were standing. Schaefer caught up to the vehicle and arrested and charged the driver, Everett L. Ray IV, 20, of Cheltenham with driving under the influence, possession of marijuana and use of drug paraphernalia and unlawfully throwing litter.
Two arrested on drug charges
Two people were arrested at 12:32 p.m. Oct. 25 after Dfc. R. Kreps stopped their vehicle on Route 2 for traffic violations. The driver, John A. Douglas Jr., 53, of Lusby was driving on a suspended license and allegedly had an open warrant through the state of Texas and the vehicle tag was registered to a different vehicle. He was charged with driving on a suspended license and arrested on the open warrant. The passenger, Judy A. Douglas, 56, of Lusby was arrested and charged with possession of Carisoprodol and use of drug paraphernalia. She also had an open warrant out of Texas and was arrested on the warrant.
