St. Mary’s College of Maryland will host a six-week baseball camp starting Jan. 6 with St. Mary’s head baseball coach Lew Jenkins directing the program in conjunction with U.S. Baseball Academy.
Classes are available for players in grades 1 to 12 and are limited to six players per coach. Sessions are offered in advanced hitting, pitching, catching, fielding and baserunning.
The cost is as low as $99 for six weeks with proceeds to benefit amateur baseball in St. Mary’s City.

The Chesapeake Tide, an 8-U and 9-U travel baseball team, will hold tryouts through the fall and winter for players in the Southern Maryland area. The Calverton Futsal League is looking for players for its winter season, which will take place Saturdays and Sundays from December to February at The Calverton School in Huntingtown.

Southern Maryland Sabres Hockey Club will host a "Try Hockey For Free" event at 10 a.m. Nov. 3 at the Capital Clubhouse in Waldorf.
USA Hockey and more than over 400 local programs across the country will encourage children 4 to 9 to come to a local participating rink and try youth hockey as part of the NHL's Come Play Hockey Month.

The Sabres will provide some equipment for participants to use, but all are encouraged to bring a bike helmet and winter gloves if participants have them.
