Open house

Unique Sports Academy’s homeschool program will hold an open house from 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 8 at the academy, at 109 Post Office Road in Waldorf.

The program is for children 5 to 18 and is free.

The program is designed to promote fitness in kids, improving their flexibility, cardio and strength, while navigating through a variety of small group stations, featuring obstacle courses, trampolines, foam pits, rope ladders and Olympic quality gymnastics equipment.

Tennis tournament

The St. Mary's County Tennis Association will be hold Feast or Slammin’, its third annual charity tennis tournament, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 17 at Great Mills High School.

The first 24 players from high school to adult to register wiill be able to participate in the tournament.

The cost is $20 plus one canned good. Proceeds will benefit the Southern Maryland Food Bank.

Turkey Trot

The College of Southern Maryland La Plata campus’ Wellness, Fitness and Aquatics Department will hold the Turkey Trot, a 5K run/walk and a one-mile walk, at 9 a.m. Nov. 18. The run will take place at the La Plata campus and will start and end in front of the Physical Education center.

The cost is $25 for the 5K run/walk, $15 for one-mile walk and $15 for senior citizens. Preregistration for the event ends Nov. 15.

Registration will be open the day of the event from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m. outside the center. The cost is $35 for race-day registration.

All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society and the CSM Foundation.
