Four suspects have been arrested and charged with murder after a 2010 shooting victim in Capitol Heights died Nov. 8 due to complications related to the gunshot wound.
Melvin Pate, 29, of Northeast Washington, D.C., was found Nov. 22, 2010, suffering from a gunshot wound in the 2100 block of Brooks Drive in Capitol Heights.
Prince George’s County police officers arrested Jermaine Hailes, 22, of the 4100 block of Massachusetts Avenue, Southeast Washington, D.C., and Ciree Petty, 21, of the 2100 block of Brooks Drive in Capitol Heights on Nov. 13.
On Nov. 14, police arrested Ramel Sander, 22, of the 11800 block of Birchview Court in Clinton and Mark Anderson, 22, of the 2300 block of Hope Circle in Waldorf.
All four have been charged with first- and second-degree murder and related charges, according to county police and online Prince George’s County court records.
Online court records show Hailes and Petty were previously arrested in December 2010 after the incident and were charged with attempted first-degree murder while Pate was still alive. Those charges were dropped, however, and only Petty was convicted on a robbery charge, according to online court records.
Calls to Ramel Sanders were not returned for Monday.
Calls to Joseph Vallerio Jr., Petty’s former defense attorney, were not returned Monday.
Calls to Malik Shakur, Hailes’ former defense attorney, were not returned Monday.
A defense attorney for Anderson was not listed with the courts by Monday.
