Merle J. Oliver, 82, Waldorf
Merle J. Oliver, 82, of Waldorf died Nov. 12, 2012, at Civista Medical Center, La Plata.
Born Sept. 10, 1930, in Rock Point, he was the son of the late James Obie Oliver and the late Mary Mabel Johnson.
Mr. Oliver was a plumber. He enjoyed wood carving, painting and country music. He also enjoyed building replica boats. Most of all, he loved his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Cecil Oliver, Ambrose Oliver and Donald Oliver; and sisters, Elma Widmayer, Ruth Hayden, Hazel Crismond, Doris Prange and Carol Ann Oliver.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine A. Oliver; son, Jimmy Oliver and his wife, Debbie; daughter, Patricia Rupprecht and her husband, Sonny; brother, Eddie Oliver; adopted brother, Hezikiah Driggers; grandchildren, Patsy, Walter III and Crystal Rupprecht, Elizabeth and Jamie Oliver; and great-grandchild, Bella Chappell.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Nov. 16 at Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, La Plata, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Nov. 17. The Rev. Joseph Trigg will officiate. Burial will take place at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf.
