Vaughn finishes first year at Guilford

Freshman Cassie Vaughn, a Thomas Stone High School graduate from Brandywine, recently completed her first season with the Guilford College (N.C.) women’s soccer team.

Vaughn, a defender, played in 17 of the Quakers’ 19 games, starting five. She took 15 shots this season, 10 of which were on goal, earning her a .667 shots-on-goal percentage, which led the team.

Coach Eric Lewis’ Quakers ended the season with an overall record of 4-15 and a 3-9 record in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. Lewis expects 18 letter winners to return in 2013, including Vaughn.
