Calvert County Parks & Recreation is now accepting team registration for adult basketball teams. Age divisions are 18-and-Over (no high school students) and 35-and-Over and rosters must have between 10 and 15 players. Age is determined as of Dec. 31, 2013 and deadline to register is Nov. 16.
The cost is $550 per team. Games are played Tuesday and Thursday at Northeast Community Center and Sundays may also be considered.

The St. Mary's County Tennis Association will be hold Feast or Slammin’, its third annual charity tennis tournament, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 17 at Great Mills High School.
The first 24 players from high school to adult to register wiill be able to participate in the tournament.
The cost is $20 plus one canned good. Proceeds will benefit the Southern Maryland Food Bank.

CCPR youth basketball
Calvert County Parks & Recreation will hold tryouts for the county/competitive basketball program from 6 to 7 p.m. for U-10, 7 to 8 p.m. for U-11 and U-12 and from 8 to 9 p.m. for U-14 at the following dates and places for the respective teams: SYB Panthers Nov. 19, 20 and 26 at Mill Creek Middle School; Prince Frederick Eagles Nov. 26 to 28 at Southern Middle School; St. John Vianney Nov. 19 and 20 at Windy Hill Middle School and Nov. 27 at Huntingtown High School; Owings Outlaws Nov. 26 to 28 at Windy Hill Middle School; Beach Buccaneers Nov. 19, 26 and 28 at Northeast Community Center; Huntingtown Hurricanes Nov. 26, 28 and 29 at Plum Point Middle School; Dunkirk Warriors Nov. 26 to 28 at Northern Middle School.
Registration is not required. Participants can just show up the first day of tryouts, though players must register for the CCPR intramural program prior to tryouts.

Gretton Goalkeeping will hold weekly outdoor and indoor soccer training sessions for all ages and skill levels.
Indoor sessions will take place at the Windy Hill Elementary School beginning the week of Nov. 26 and running through the week of Feb. 25. Outdoor sessions will be at various fields in the county.

Futsal players wanted
The Calverton Futsal League is looking for players for its winter season, which will take place Saturdays and Sundays from December to February at The Calverton School in Huntingtown.
The cost is $70 per player until Nov. 19. After that date, there is a $20 late fee.

St. Mary’s College of Maryland will host a six-week baseball camp starting Jan. 6 with St. Mary’s head baseball coach Lew Jenkins directing the program in conjunction with U.S. Baseball Academy.
Classes are available for players in grades 1 to 12 and are limited to six players per coach. Sessions are offered in advanced hitting, pitching, catching, fielding and baserunning.
The cost is as low as $99 for six weeks with proceeds to benefit amateur baseball in St. Mary’s City.

Tide baseball tryouts
The Chesapeake Tide, an 8-U and 9-U travel baseball team, will hold tryouts through the fall and winter for players in the Southern Maryland area. The Southern Maryland branch of the Washington Area Lacrosse Officials Association is seeking new officials to officiate boys youth games this spring.
Mandatory training sessions to become a certified US Lacrosse Level 1 boys lacrosse official will be conducted in January and February. Officials must be at least 16 and must submit a written recommendation from their current high school coach if attending high school.
All new officials must be US Lacrosse members or join US Lacrosse in order to take the certification class.
Game fees for youth games range from $45 to $60 per game. Prior lacrosse playing experience is highly desirable.
