Beth Ramsey took over as acting principal this week at White Marsh Elementary School.

Luchrisha Flowers, the former principal, resigned last week for personal reasons, according to school officials.

Ramsey most recently served as an assistant principal at Benjamin Banneker Elementary School. She began her work with St. Marys public schools last year as an assistant principal at George Washington Carver Elementary School. Prior to that she worked in Charles County public schools as an elementary teacher with a reading specialist degree.

Its a very high-performing school. Its a great place to be, Ramsey said Monday on the first day of her new job. She said that parents, teachers, bus drivers and others have already made her feel welcome at White Marsh.

I have lived in Charlotte Hall for 25 years, she said.

She and her family have run the Applejack K-9 Academy, a German shepherd training and boarding business, most of those years in Charlotte Hall.
