While most people get the day off for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s, others spend the day working to serve others. Police, firefighters and other public safety personnel are on call to handle emergency calls, but most restaurants are closed.

The Wheaton and Kensington Chamber of Commerce is seeking donations for its Holiday on Duty program, which provides meals for public safety workers during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

Checks made payable to the chamber should reference Holiday on Duty and be mailed to 2401 Blueridge Ave., Suite 101, Wheaton, Md. 20902. For more information, call 301-318-7103.
