Olney Re/Max Realty Centre exceeded its goal of raising $25,000 for the Children’s Miracle Network at fundraising event held on Nov. 8.
This marked the seventh year of event, which featured both a silent and live auction. The Inn at Brookeville Farms hosted 160 guests who wined, dined and danced while bidding on an array of donated goods, services, baskets and vacation packages.
Arielle Gart, coordinator of the Children’s Miracle Network at Children's National Medical Center, attended the event, and thanked the crowd for their support.
“The most important thing about our hospital is that we never turn anyone away,” she said. “The money raised is so important, because we have provided millions and millions of dollars in uncompensated care. We are so appreciative of Re/Max; they do so much for us.”
A highlight of the event was the auction of a handmade quilt donated to Children's Hospital by several mothers who quilted as they waited for their children to receive cancer treatments. It sold for $225.
Chairperson of the event and Re/Max realtor Ellen Coleman said that it was a privilege to help, since both of her children were cared for by Children’s in their earlier years.
"The support this year was tremendous both from the Re/Max family and the local businesses,” she said. “Thank you to all who attended, donated, sponsored and lived the miracle with us".
Re/Max International is a major sponsor of Children’s Miracle Network. Throughout the year, its realtors are encouraged to contribute a percentage of each sale to the hospital through the through the Miracle Home Program.
