Head coach: Andrew Norris (second season)
Last year: 3-18
Athletes to watch: PG Morgan Jordan (So., Elizabeth Seton), G/PG Alex Manning (Fr., Northern), F Braedyn Mims (Fr., Calvert), F Taylor White (Fr., North Point), F Carly Flowers (Fr., McDonough), G Whitney Jones (So.)
Key personnel losses: Teshaun Greene
Strengths: The team is full of guards and Norris is happy with the chemistry, stating he has a “good group of girls.” The Hawks started off with a successful scrimmage on Nov. 14 over Galluadet University and won 49-35.
Weaknesses: The learning process of competing together will need time to develop. The size of the team and its ability to compete on the collegiate level will take time as well. The loss of Greene’s 13 points per game may be missed, but Jordan also had high numbers last year, averaging 11 points per game. The Southern Maryland Athletic Conference has sent CSM some talent that just needs time to develop as a solid unit.
Coach’s comments: “We want to improve over last season. We have the potential to do some good things if we learn how to compete and play together for a full 40 minutes.”
Key games: Feb. 5 at Prince George’s Community, Feb. 12 at MDJUCO Tournament [TBD]
