The Bowie Baysox and local leaders are working to strike out the need for warm clothing for area families this winter season.

The Baysox are partnering with the Bowie Police Department and the city’s office of Youth and Family Services as well as Prince George’ County’s Fire and EMS Department for the team’s Louie's Holiday Hope Project.

The project, which the baseball club has run since 2007, collects gently used coats, new socks and other warm clothing to be donated to area families. Last year’s drive collected enough items to support 21 families with 48 children last year, the club said in a statement.

Donations to the drive will be taken until Nov. 30. Items can dropped off to the Baysox during business hours at their office at Prince George's Stadium at 4101 Crain Highway.

Nominations for people to receive items from the drive can be made confidentially via email to info@baysox.com. Entries must be received by 5 p.m. Dec. 7.

More information about the drive can be found via email to info@baysox.com or by calling the Baysox at 301-805-6000.
