On Oct. 16, Suitland High School guard Roddy Peters gave the University of Maryland a verbal commitment to play basketball. On Nov. 14 at 3:30 p.m. in the Suitland library, it became official, as Peters signed his letter of intent to join center Damonte Dodd as the two current members of Maryland coach Mark Turgeon's 2013 recruiting class.

In his junior season with the Rams, the 6-foot-4, 180-pound Peters averaged 23 points and 5.2 assists per game. He turned down offers from Georgetown, Kansas, Memphis and Rutgers among others.

Ashley Peacock signed with the University of Louisville, making her the first Elizabeth Seton High School lacrosse player to receive a Division I scholarship.

“Ashley is not only one of the best goalies in the WCAC, but she is an amazing athlete and great team player," Seton coach Ashley Russell said in a statement. "She is focused and determined, which is why she is playing at the University of Louisville next fall.”
