The Southern Maryland Sabres Hockey Club hosted a 12-team Mite Jamboree on Oct. 28 at the Capital Clubhouse in Waldorf.
Six visiting clubs, including the NOVA Ice Dogs, Prince William Panthers, Tri-City Eagles, Reston Raiders, Chevy Chase and Easton Ice Hawks came motivated to compete and have fun.
One hundred eighty children played games in a cross-ice format, where three simultaneous games take place at the same time running the width of the ice.
The Southern Maryland Sabres Hockey Club participates in the Chesapeake Bay Hockey League and the Capital Corridor Hockey League. The Sabres’ home arena is the Capital Clubhouse in Waldorf and draws players from Charles, St. Mary’s, Calvert, Prince George’s and King George counties and beyond.
The Sabres will hold its second Mite Jamboree from 9:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Jan. 27.
