Bill Dalton, 80, formerly of Rockville, died Nov. 26, 2012, in Naples, Fla.
Born May 4, 1932, in Lincoln, Neb., he is survived by Susan Dalton, his wife of 33 years.
In 1957 he earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Duke University and later served in the U.S. Army at Fort Meyers, Va. He helped popularize FM-radio in the D.C.-region through the introduction of WASH-FM and helping advance the installation of FM converters in new and used cars in the late-’60s to early-’70s. After managing WASH-FM, he also worked at KLAC in Los Angeles, WNEW in New York and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce heading broadcast operations. He and his wife later formed The Dalton Group, purchasing several radio stations prior to retiring and moving to Naples, Fla.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Robert Dalton and wife Terri Anne of Atlanta, Diane Warren and husband Randall of San Antonio and John Dalton of Knoxville, Tenn.; and seven grandchildren.
A celebration of his life will take place at 11 a.m. Dec. 1 at North Naples United Methodist Church in Naples, Fla.
