The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office and the county Department of Aging will hold a seminar for senior citizens in Urbana on how to avoid being the target of scams and frauds.

Cpl. Jason West of the sheriff’s criminal investigations unit will host the seminar, titled “Learn How to Be Scam Smart and Fraud Free,” at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Urbana Senior Center.

The talk will focus on how to avoid financial scams and schemes through the Internet, mail or telephone.

The Urbana Senior Center is on the lower level of the Urbana Regional Library at 9020 Amelung St. in Urbana, with parking available in the rear of the building.

Reservations can be made by calling 301-600-1605 or 301-600-7020 or emailing shofstra@frederickcountymd.gov.

The senior center serves a light supper every Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
