Wootton High School’s Center for the Performing Arts offers a night of theater this weekend with “The 39 Steps,” a story of intrigue, spies, adventure and love — with a twist.

The stage version of “The 39 Steps,” as presented by Wootton’s actors, is a farce. It takes the framework of the classic Alfred Hitchcock movie of the same name, but plays with the conventions of the theater to tell the story in a ridiculous way. In this case, solving the mystery might not be as interesting as the journey to get there.

“The 39 Steps” will take place at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 29 and 30 and Dec. 1 at Thomas S. Wootton High School, 2100 Wootton Parkway, in Rockville. Tickets are available at the school’s box office, at www.woottonpatrons-arts.org or at www.schooltix.org/wootton.

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students. Call 301-279-8581 for more information.
