For the holiday season, all Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department stations, administrative offices and work sites have been designated as drop-off points for Toys for Tots to assist the county police department’s efforts to distribute toys to children.
Toys for Tots is a charity program run by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve that collects and distributes toys to less fortunate children during Christmas.
“This is for families that can’t afford to go out and purchase some of these items. It’s certainly something that will make the kids’ days and make them happy for the Christmas season,” said Mark Brady, spokesman for the county’s fire/EMS department.
Brady said the department is making all fire stations drop-off locations since “most citizens and residents know where their local firehouse is located” and said they are convenient spots to take donations.
The toys will be given to children throughout Prince George’s County through the county police department’s Toys for Tots program on Dec. 22.
