Our Lady of Good Counsel High School graduate Stefon Diggs, a freshman wide receiver-kick returner at the University of Maryland, earned honorable mention All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors this week. Senior teammate and DeMatha Catholic graduate Kenneth Tate, who played linebacker, also received honorable mention honors.

Diggs caught 54 passes for 848 yards (15.7 per reception) with six touchdowns. He averaged 77.1 receiving yards per game while also rushing for 114 yards on 20 carries and completing an 8-yard touchdown pass.

In the return game, Diggs averaged 28.5 yards on 25 kickoff returns with two touchdowns, including a return of 100 yards. He returned 22 punts for 221 yards and averaged 172.4 yards all-purpose yards in 11 games.

Tate recorded 42 total tackles, including 6.5 tackles for a loss, with four sacks and two recovered fumbles in nine games. He sat out most of last season with a knee injury.

Maryland finished the season at 4-8, losing its final six games of the season.
