Robert M. Allen Jr., 72, Accokeek

Robert M. Allen Jr., 72, of Accokeek died Nov. 26, 2012, at home.

Born March 2, 1940, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Robert M. Allen Sr., and the late Mary Eleice Moreland.

He graduated from Gwynn Park High School, Brandywine, in 1959. He was in the U.S. Army Reserves and was honorably discharged in 1969.

He was a licensed master plumber, and had his own business, Robert M. Allen Jr. Plumbing and Heating, for many years until he retired. He loved fishing, camping, word search puzzles, spending time with his grandchildren and most recently watching soap operas.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Butch and Larry Moreland.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Geraldine “Gerrie” Allen of Accokeek; daughters, Brenda Allen, Beverly Lincoln and her husband, Andrew and Melinda Jones; sons, Donnie, Kevin, Brian and Pat Dwyer; sister, June Reiner; grandchildren, Kevin Dwyer Jr., David Rice, Amanda Pickeral, Billy Pickeral, Katie Dwyer, Patrick Dwyer, Chelsey Dwyer, Brian Dwyer, Amber King, Andrew Lincoln Jr., Michael Mulligan Jr., Brendan Allen Mulligan, Sean Mulligan and Sierra Dwyer; and great-grandchildren, Jayda, Emmanuel and Eric Dwyer, Deonta’ and Jayden Hall and Sienna Pickeral.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Dec. 2 at Raymond Funeral Service, La Plata. A service will be held at 10 a.m. Dec. 3 at the First Baptist Church of Accokeek. the Rev. J.D. Walker and the Rev. Frank Chelton Jr. will officiate. Burial will take place at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf.

Pallbearers will be Billy Cassidy, Charlie Triplett, Tony Funicelli, Eddie Jones, Donnie Dwyer and Pat Dwyer

Arrangements are being handled by the Raymond Funeral Service.
