Two 15-year-old boys were charged with second-degree arson after confessing to setting paper items on fire with a lighter inside a vacant Indian Head shed at 12:57 p.m. Nov. 21, the Maryland State Fire Marshal reported.
No one was hurt, but the fire caused an estimated $1,000 in damage to the 10-foot-by-12-foot shed at 37 Glymont Road.
A neighbor and a Charles County sheriff's deputy discovered the flames. Fifteen firefighters from the Indian Head Volunteer Fire Department put out the fire in 15 minutes.
Both teens were apprehended shortly after leaving the scene and confessed to starting the fire.
They were charged and released to the custody of their parents.
